First Teaser Trailer for "The Revenant"

Image via AMC Movie News

The first official trailer for Academy Award-Winning director Alejandro G. Iñárritu's The Revenant, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, has been released. Right away, you can easily tell it is an Iñárritu film because his way of shooting is unlike anyone else. The way he follows his actors with the camera makes it feel as if the viewer is right there walking alongside the characters and that is a very unique quality. The music that he uses in this trailer is also reminiscent to that of Birdman, the film that won him the Academy Award last year. It is also interesting to note the film was made using only natural lighting, which is a very difficult thing to do as it makes it much more difficult to manipulate shadows and the light is always unpredictable. The trailer itself doesn't tell us much of the story, but teasers rarely do that. Nonetheless, this is still one of the best trailers I have seen all year. Even though there is not much dialogue in this teaser, there is still great intensity to every scene shown. Will this be the role that finally gives DiCaprio his first Oscar? Only time will tell, but his chances are looking good. The Revenant is scheduled for a limited release on December 25, 2015 followed by a wide release on January 8, 2016.

I would like to point out that these films are on my list because of how they made me feel, and not necessarily just because of how well-made they are. So, without further ado, here are my top 15 best films of 2017! Honorable Mentions: The Shape of Water, The Disaster Artist, The Babysitter, Gerald's Game, Battle of the Sexes, I Tonya, Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. 15. Wonder Woman, dir. Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman  has to be looked at as one of the most important superhero films we've ever had. It came out in a year where the female voice was louder and clearer than it has ever been. There has never been a female-led supe...
