New Trailer and Poster for Crimson Peak

Image via IMDB

Universal has released a new poster and trailer for their upcoming horror film, Crimson Peak, and they are both fantastic! First off, the trailer does exactly what a trailer should do which is create interest in the film. I have always loved horror movies and I have seen the change that this genre has undergone through the years. This is now a genre that relies heavily on very generic stories and very cheap and dull attempts at scaring the viewer. There have been very few truly scary films in recent years, and Crimson Peak looks to be one of those. This trailer showed us mysterious characters in the form of siblings portrayed by Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain as well as terrifying creatures that you would come to expect from director Guillermo del Toro. But what stood out the most to me was the fact that there seems to be an actual story driving this film, rather than being a horror film that tries super hard to scare you without really developing an intriguing story. This does not appear to be the type of horror film that was made simply to attempt to scare its audience before being tossed aside to make room for the next "scariest movie of the year". Instead, this looks to be the type of movie that will haunt you (no pun intended) and will leave you wanting to see more.

A Remake of 1922's "Nosferatu" Is On Its Way

Image via Reddit It has been announced that a remake of F. W. Murnau's 1922 horror film, Nosferatu , is in the works. For those who are unaware of what Nosferatu is, it is essentially the story of Dracula except that the characters have different names because the studio was not able to get the rights to the novel. The silent film, despite being almost a century old, is widely considered one of the best horror movies of all time, ranking 3rd amongst Rotten Tomatoes' "Top 100 Horror Movies". What excites me about this film being remade is that it signals a return to what vampires are meant to be, which is terrifying monsters. In the past 10 years, there hasn't really been a good incarnation of any of the classic horror monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein, the Werewolf, etc.). In my eyes, the best vampire movie in recent years was 2007's 30 Days of Night, but it does not relate to Dracula and doesn't even mention the word "vampire" throughout the...

Have You Seen It? 2011's "Crazy, Stupid, Love."

Image via Wikipedia Crazy, Stupid, Love.  stars Steve Carell as Cal, an everyday man who is going through a divorce from his wife of 25 years, Emily (Julianne Moore). While drinking away his sorrows at a bar, he comes across Jacob (Ryan Gosling), a suave womanizer who offers to help Cal rediscover his manhood. As Jacob helps Cal navigate through his newfound sex-life, he meets Hannah (Emma Stone), who he describes to Cal as a "game changer " for him. As the friendship between Cal and Jacob progresses, they each discover things about themselves that they didn't know where there all along. Crazy, Stupid, Love.  is, in my opinion, one of the most underrated movies in the past 5 years and it's one of many movies that I always urge people to go out and see. It's a romantic comedy but it's different than your typical rom-com and contains some awesome twists that hit you without warning. It's a very funny movie that shows you multiple stories that all...

Film Review: "Avengers: Infinity War" (Non-Spoiler)

For the past ten years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been steadily building a world in which superheroes and supervillains could live in. In that time, audiences have seen these heroes put their lives on the line in order to save the world, over and over again. These heroes have grown and matured right before the eyes of audiences who have done the same. Fans of the MCU have invested countless hours watching and debating the events of every film within this cinematic universe. Now, a decade and 18 films later,  Avengers: Infinity War  is here to tie every single one of those films together. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo,  Avengers: Infinity War  isn’t just a culmination of everything that Marvel has done, it is its most daring film to date. The MCU has gone beyond the physical world, having proven that these characters can travel across time, space and even different dimensions. This is the first time, however, where they attempt to bring all of that int...
